When Italian paper manufacturer Fedrigoni exhibited at DRUPA – Europe's largest printing and paper fair – the temptation was to design a stand using contractors' favourites like illuminated Perspex, glossy laminates and painted surfaces to finish the display's structure.
Instead, Thomas Manss & Company chose to turn the entire stand into a giant paper swatch: walls were covered in sheets from the latest range of Fabriano Cocktail papers, the 'art' in the meeting rooms – another case of paper doing the talking; even the doors were turned into a tactile displays letting visitors experience the beautiful texture of the company's fine paper offering.
The hero of the show firmly established, individual displays showed off the ideas and elaborate production techniques that turn beautiful ingredients into finished objects of desire.
